Applications are invited from candidates with appropriate training and experience for the post of Locum Consultant in Paediatric Rheumatology at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, primarily working at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre for outpatient-based care.
Inpatient and acute care is provided with support from paediatric services at the Oxford Childrens Hospital based at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The 10 PA post advertised is long term sickness cover for the current post holder. This post will join Dr Akhila Kavirayani and Dr Pam Dawson, collectively providing 2.9 whole time equivalent consultants at this Paediatric Rheumatology and Chronic Pain tertiary centre.

Applicants should possess, or be within 6 months of receiving, a CCST in paediatrics (or equivalent) at the time of commencing the appointment and have had appropriate experience within a dedicated paediatric rheumatology unit. Any Consultant who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Oxford is recognised as an NHS England designated provider of tertiary paediatric rheumatology specialist services (OXPARC), established in 2004, providing a secondary care service for much of Thames Valley and the tertiary referral centre for Northern South Central and neighbouring areas.
Additional specialist services provided include a skeletal dysplasia service, sports medicine and autoinflammatory clinic. The service includes the Oxford Children and Young Peoples Chronic Pain (OXCYPP) service, a regional service providing both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation programmes for young people in pain.
This service is delivered in Central Oxford, at Douglas House, and is in high demand and ready for expansion. Oxford has an embedded transitional service supported by an adult rheumatologist with age appropriate MDT clinics provided in both the paediatric and adult setting.

This provides seamless care for adolescents and young people with rheumatic disease to adult services.
