An opportunity has risen for one whole time and one 0.5WTE Senior Project Manager to join the HEIW National Programmes team, to lead and manage specific projects within the Strategic Workforce Plan for Primary Care.

Main duties of the job

The National Programmes Team at HEIW acts as a bridge between HEIW and national programme functions, including primary care, planned care, cancer and diagnostics, urgent and emergency care, and genomics. We lead on service-based strategic workforce plans in partnership with NHS Executive National Strategic programmes.

Our team brings in expertise from various professions and HEIW functions, supporting the coordination and alignment of HEIW's work with national priorities.

These senior project manager roles will be working to support the implementation of year two of the Strategic Workforce Plan for Primary Care, which is a busy, high volume workstream. The roles will suit an organised person with an eye for detail.

Reporting to the Strategic Workforce Plan for Primary Care Implementation lead you will be adept at managing, supporting and consulting on projects. You will already have experience in project management methodologies and a background in managing complex projects.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Postgraduate Diploma level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Project and/or Programme management office qualification, PRINCE2, MSP or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Masters level qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of management and managing successful projects
  • Effective partnership working in the public sector
  • Experience of effective stakeholder working with external bodies
Desirable criteria
  • Experience as a formal project manager.
  • Experience of working within the NHS

Skills and Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Track record of complex problem solving in a project management environment

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum.

This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed
