We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Family Legal Assistant to join our amazing organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support by taking initial instructions from clients and assessing the merits of your client’s cases calculating their eligibility for legal aid, providing legal support to the Supervisor, including drafting documents, conducting legal research and managing case files.
Job RoleYour role will be to support fee earners in the office with a variety of administration duties.
- Making initial contact with client
- Collating financial documents for legal aid applications
- Obtaining instructions from the client for a Means and Merits Assessment
- Completing legal aid eligibility assessments
- Completing legal aid applications on CCMS
- Preparing Court applications
- Preparing Client Care Letters
- Experience of work in a Family Law department
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Confident with liaising with clients and senior management
- Ability to work independently, under pressure and to deadlines
- Excellent numerical and IT skills
- Ability to process information using relevant software
