About the Role
Luckley House School, a co-educational independent day and boarding school located in Wokingham, Berkshire, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of History & Geography to join our academic team in September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to teach two popular and successful subjects across Key Stages, including History and Geography at GCSE, with A Level teaching desirable.You will be supported by experienced Heads of Department and work collaboratively to enhance the learning experience of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging and effective lessons in History and Geography, ensuring continuity, progression, and cohesiveness across Key Stages.
- Teach History and Geography GCSE courses following the AQA specifications, and potentially A Level courses (History also includes Politics through Edexcel).
- Set high expectations for student achievement, fostering a safe and respectful learning environment while promoting self-esteem and independence.
- Collaborate with SEN staff and other support teams to tailor lessons to individual student needs.
- Participate in departmental activities such as field trips, lunch-time clubs, and national competitions to enrich student learning.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress using systematic methods, providing accurate feedback to students and parents.
- Act as a Form Tutor, promoting the happiness, well-being, and academic progress of your assigned students.
- Liaise with parents, senior staff, and external agencies to support pupil welfare and development.
- Contribute to the school’s enrichment programme and extracurricular activities.
- A good honours degree in a relevant subject and a PGCE or equivalent qualification granting QTS.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of History and Geography curriculum, with a proven ability to teach GCSE levels (essential) and A Levels (desirable).
- Strong organisational and creative planning skills, with proficiency in ICT to enhance teaching.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities, fostering both independent and collaborative learning.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining high teaching standards.
