We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, active team players with excellent communication skills who enjoy working with children and their families, to join our well established Leicestershire paediatric and neonatal Dietetic and Nutrition service

Our high profile and valued team include 17 Paediatric Dietitians working as core members of multi-professional teams, dedicated Paediatric Dietetic Support Worker, Dietetic Assistant Practitioners and Admin Support Workers. The team provides a service to the Children’s & Women’s Clinical Management Group, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, one of the largest teaching Trusts in the country, which is primarily based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary site.

You will be working collaboratively with a dynamic team, contributing to a comprehensive service for paediatric patients with diverse needs across local and tertiary specialties.

This role offers flexibility based on your experience and career goals:
  • Training Post: Start your career in Paediatric Dietetics as a Band 5 Dietitian, with progression to Band 6 within 9-12 months upon completing a paediatric dietetic training programme, including competency-based assessments.
  • Senior Post: For candidates with prior paediatric experience, this opportunity is available at Band 6

This is an excellentopportunity to gain broad experience in various aspects of paediatric and neonatal dietetics in inpatient and outpatient settings.

You will be providing a service on a rotational basis at band 5 or 6 to a wide range of paediatric local and tertiary specialities. Each rotation involvesworking alongside a team of paediatric and neonatal dietitians in a range of busy medical and surgical children’s wards and outpatient clinics.

There is the possibility to apply for 15 hours / week in the Neonatology speciality as a fixed rather than rotational post dependant on skills and experience – this can be part time or as part of a full time post.

Our band 5/6 rotational programme includes 9 sub-specialities; Allergy, Neonatal, Cardiology, Inherited Metabolic Disorders, Cystic Fibrosis, Ketogenic Diet Therapy, Oncology, Respiratory High Dependency care, and Paediatric Intensive Care. You will be a core and valued member of the multi-disciplinary team for each speciality.

You will play an active part in the pre-registration training of dietitians by participating in our very popular dedicated paediatric A, B and C clinical placements.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
