In-House Senior Legal Counsel 5+ PQE Conflicts & Risk BirminghamBCL Legal is pleased to be partnering with a leading global law firm to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel into its highly regarded Office of the General Counsel (OGC) team, based in Birmingham.This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified lawyer with a strong background in legal risk and conflicts to join a high-performing in-house team within a global, forward-thinking legal environment.
This is a permanent role offering hybrid working and the chance to work at the heart of the firms legal risk function.The Role:As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across the business. Youll provide expert legal guidance with a focus on conflicts of interest, confidentiality, and wider regulatory and compliance matters.Key responsibilities include: Advising on complex legal conflicts and confidentiality issues across the firms international offices, including application of US conflicts rules Supporting and supervising the firms conflicts team, including handling escalations and providing technical guidance Reviewing client terms and advising on bespoke conflicts provisions Advising on own-interest conflicts, reputational risk, and business intake criteria Leading on internal investigations related to conflicts issues Delivering training to legal teams and business support professionals on conflicts and related risk topics Collaborating with the wider OGC team on strategic initiatives and contributing to firm-wide risk and compliance projects Influencing the design and implementation of conflict management systems and processesCandidate Requirements:To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have: 5+ years PQE and a current practising certificate Strong experience advising on conflicts of interest and confidentiality, ideally gained within a law firm or similar professional services environment A sound understanding of legal and regulatory risk within an international context Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively A commercial, strategic mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure A collaborative approach and strong relationship-building skills across teams and jurisdictionsBenefits: Competitive salary and benefits package Flexible hybrid working arrangement Opportunity to work in a key in-house role at the centre of legal operations in a global law firm High-quality work and exposure to complex international issues in a supportive and inclusive teamThis is an excellent opportunity for a confident and experienced risk/conflicts lawyer looking to take on a senior in-house role with real impact.Apply now, or for a confidential discussion about this and other legal opportunities, please contact Angharad Warren at BCL Legal.BCL Legal is an equal opportunities employer.
