Role Overview

As a Finance Assistant at a logistics company, you will support the finance department with day-to-day financial tasks and ensure the smooth processing of financial transactions. You will play an essential role in managing accounts, processing invoices, and maintaining financial records, contributing to the overall financial health of the business.
Key Responsibilities
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and up to date.
  • Reconciliation: Assist with bank reconciliations and ensure all discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
  • Expense Management: Manage employee expense claims and ensure they comply with company policies.
  • Reporting: Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Credit Control: Support credit control activities by following up on outstanding payments and maintaining customer account records.
  • Data Entry: Input financial data into accounting software, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the finance team, including filing, data management, and responding to internal finance queries.
  • VAT and Tax Support: Assist with VAT returns and other tax-related filings.
  • Audits: Support internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation and information.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Prior experience in a finance assistant or similar role.
  • Numeracy: Strong numerical skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all financial data.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication for liaising with suppliers, clients, and internal teams.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Team Player: Comfortable working as part of a team and supporting colleagues where needed.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies and errors efficiently.
