Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Support , Time and Recovery worker (STR) to work in the Home Based Treatment Team in Kendal , South Lakes.The Home Treatment Team cares for people who are experiencing acute episodes of mental illness or emotional distress. The service is an alternative to admission and offers intensive support to service users and their families in the community.
The service works closely with all other NHS mental health services, including the in-patient wards; to support early discharges. The service also works closely with third sector providers, so great communication skills are essential.The post is full time, permanent post covering the service over 7 days per week; working long days on a 09.00-20.00 shift pattern that covers weekends and bank holidays. Nights may be required as part of the overall cover of the needs of the service, as part of internal rotation if required.
As a member of the team you would be working with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Mental Health Nurses, Support Workers, Social Workers, Occupational Therapist, Pharmacist, Psychologist and Consultant Psychiatrist.This is a community post, covering a large rural area.
Main duties of the job
Mental health services at South Lakes Home Treatment Team are designed to meet the holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a working environment conducive to staff development and wellbeing. The post holder would support the delivery of care in the urgent care pathway.
- Work as an integrated member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), working within a rotational shift system to support patients according to their care needs, some of whom may present with problematic or challenging behaviour.
- Work under the supervision of the registered OT within the team as part of the delivery of recovery focused activity to support the needs of patients who are experiencing a crisis in their mental health. This will also form part of care plans to support individuals who may require intense community support to reduce the risk of hospital admission.

- Contribute to the protection of patients from abuse
- Contribute to the health, safety and security of patients and their environment.
- Obtain, transmit and store information relating to the delivery of a care service.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- An interest in completing NVQ Level III or higher in Health or the completion above and Social Care or QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care training or can demonstrate the equivalent skills and knowledge gained through work (pad/unpaid).
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Demonstrate an understanding various mental illnesses.
- Understands their duties and responsibilities under the Data Protection Act with regard to patient confidentiality.
Experience
Essential criteria- Working in a caring environment, e.g. nursing home, care home, hospital ward, home carer etc.
