An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Receptionist to join the Travel Reimbursement team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will be based in Travel Reimbursement but may be asked to cover in other areas such as Outpatients and Main Reception providing excellent patient experience in all areas.

The role is busy and the variety of tasks makes it incredibly interesting – no two days are the same!

You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams (Nurses, Consultants, Play Specialists, Health Care Assistants) and be a valued member of the wider team. Previous customer service experience is essential.

The successful candidate must demonstrate good computer literacy skills and be confident and competent in sending emails, using patient/customer information databases, Excel and Access.

Previous experience in till management and cashing up is desirable.

This position will work a 37.5 hour week over a five day period.

Main duties of the job
  • The post involves working on a shift pattern Mondays to Fridays 09:30 – 17:30.
  • To deal with first line enquiries from patients, parents/relatives/carers and staff.
  • To provide a responsive reception service for patients, parents/relatives/carers, visitors and staff promoting a welcoming atmosphere.
  • To support with reimbursing families travel costs, confirming eligibility and ensuring paperwork is complete for auditing purposes.
  • To be responsible for the effective, accurate and timely management of the electronic patient record system (Epic), specifically patient information, documenting a claim against the hospital appointment.
  • To exercise judgement and problem-solving skills to improve patient, parents/relatives/carers and staff experience.
  • To provide clear information on eligibility criteria to families relating to travel reimbursement.
