We teach across two IT suites and all pupils in the College have their own Chromebook, which we take advantage of in our curriculum. All pupils study Computer Science in Key Stage Three and many choose to continue their study of Computer Science at GCSE and into the Sixth Form. The Department is growing in pupil numbers and academic success is high, in 2024 100% of students achieved 9-4, with 80% achieving 9-7.
A full-time teacher is required to teach up to 31 lessons a week of 45-minutes each (Early Career Teachers can expect a reduced contact time and a full programme of support). Typically all members of the Department teach throughout both Key Stages; some A Level teaching may be available depending on desire and prior experience.Teachers are expected to contribute to co-curricular activities and the vast majority of teachers have a small form group. The form tutor mentors, teaches PSMEE and promotes the general progress and wellbeing of individual pupils in their group.
