An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual, to join the Neurology Department at Royal Gwent Hospital Newport The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and administrative skills.
the role is that of a Booking Clerk/,Support Secretary . The successful candidate will have the ability to work well as part of a team, be flexible to the needs of the service and able to demonstrate a commitment to achieving high quality standards of work.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as you will liaise with staff and patients.
Main duties of the job
This role will encompass the provision of a high-quality booking service for the Neurology Directorate team, encompassing all in-house appointments, including Neurologist of the Week (NOW), Lumbar Punctures, and Botox Clinics.
The successful candidate will be responsible for typing all correspondence originating from the NOW clinics and will provide essential back-up secretarial support during periods of sickness absence and annual leave.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Experience
Essential criteria- Previous secretarial experience
- Experience of working in a administrative post
- Previous NHS experience
- Experience in preparation of agendas, collation of reports and minute taking.
- Medical secretarial experience
- Experience of booking systems such as WPAS
- Experience of online applications
Skills
Essential criteria- Possess excellent communication /telephone skills
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Admin experience
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Good standard of education to level of GSCE or NVQ or equivalent
- Vocational/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent demonstrable level of knowledge and experience of administrative procedures and systems
- Keyboard skills to RSA II or equivalent standard
- Computer literate with good understanding of software programmes.
- Knowledge of Health Board policies and procedures
- Knowledge of Audio Typing
- Knowledge of NHS booking systems
