Management Consultant - Public Sector Defence - Engineering Support / Logistics Business Change

Capgemini is currently a Strategic partner for UK Defence and the MOD, helping deliver the largest and most complex Digital Transformation programmes. We are seeking individuals with a good mix of military Engineering & Equipment Support experience, understanding of current engineering processes, Logistics / Engineering Information Systems (IS) and ideally knowledge and skills in Business Change and user engagement.
In this role you will play a key role in:
- Delivering Defence wide Engineering and Logistics transformation for end users.
- Providing subject matter expertise in Military Asset Management Systems – with practical knowledge and experience of current in-service applications within the MOD (Land – Joint Asset Management & Engineering Solutions (JAMES), Maritime – Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS), Air – GOLDesp).
- Effectively engaging with and influencing end users, primarily military, to aid user centered design of the future solution.
- Helping to manage and report against the planned Business Benefits for the Programme.
- Utilising Change Management tools and techniques to drive change with users.
- As part of your role you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the business and your own personal growth, through activities that form part of the following categories:
- Business Development – Leading/contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, client hosting at events.
- Internal contribution – Campaign development, internal think-tanks, whitepapers, practice development (operations, recruitment, team events & activities), offering development.
- Learning & development – Training to support your career development and the skills demand within the company, certifications etc.
Your Profile:
The successful candidate will have a military (Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force or Civil Service) engineering technical background, so inherently understand current engineering processes, the military, civilian and industry user community who will undergo the change and ideally candidates will have some training / knowledge / experience of using change management techniques to delivery transformation programmes.
We’d welcome applications from a range of military ranks and civilian grades, wider industry / consultancy experience desirable.
We’d love to meet someone with:
- Experience in delivering successful change in Public Sector Defence / MOD organisations with a maintained network of positive relationships with key decision-makers.
- A proven ability to be successful in a matrixed organisation, and to enlist support and commitment from peers in selling and delivering consulting solutions.
- Up-to-date knowledge of Public Sector trends and issues and a recognised subject matter expert in your focus area(s) for delivery.
- The following skills/experiences would be nice to have:
- Experience working in a major Consulting firm, and/or Industry.
- Experience in creating new propositions, translating these into consulting contracts, agreeing them with clients and seeing them through to delivery.
- Business development, utilising a combination of the organisation’s broader pre-existing relationships, company relationships and your own network.
