Job overview
We are seeking an experienced Deputy HR & OD Business Partner with a passion for enhancing organisational effectiveness, to deliver expert advice and support across designated functions and directorates.
The Deputy HR and OD Business Partner will support the HR and OD Business Partner in providing strategic and operational support to dedicated Directorates, driving the implementation of GHC's People Strategy and ensuring alignment with operational priorities as well as national and regional goals.
The role involves advising and supporting managers on complex HR and organisational development matters, driving policy and procedural development, managing change and supporting employee experience and equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Additionally, the Deputy HR and OD Business Partner will support the professional development of the HR team and collaborate on projects that enhance organisational effectiveness and culture.

Main duties of the job- Provide Expert HR and OD Guidance: Autonomously deliver expertise and support to senior leaders and managers, addressing complex people management and organisational challenges.
- Support and Develop HR Operations: Lead, mentor, and support the HR team, fostering continuous professional development, a culture of reflection and improvement, while managing operations and case work to ensure consistency, quality, and continuity in advice and decision-making
- Collaborate on OD and L&D Initiatives: Work closely with OD, EDI and L&D colleagues to design and implement impactful organisational development interventions and projects.
- Manage Change and Project Management: Lead OD and change initiatives, ensuring clear deliverables, timelines and confidently challenging risks to deliverables
- Empower Leaders and Managers: Enhance managerial confidence and capabilities by adopting a coaching approach to resolve people-related issues and build long-term capabilities.
- Ensure Business Continuity: Develop and maintain robust emergency and business continuity plans, contributing to organisational resilience.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Deputy HR & OD Business Partner will provide expert HR and OD advice to the workforce strategy and business planning process for designated Functions/Directorates, providing professional, and customer focused advice and support to Associate Directors, managers and staff in the identification and management of Operations issues.The post holder will lead and support HR and OD initiatives, adopting a coaching approach to build leadership and management capability in addressing people-related challenges.
Responsibilities include managing highly complex and sensitive employee relations issues, driving recruitment and retention strategies, promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, fostering employee voice, and shaping organisational culture and behaviours.To work in collaboration with other HR, OD and corporate colleagues to deliver effective, joined up ways of working.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Current membership of CIPD
- Post graduate diploma in HR management or equivalent
- Evidence of ongoing CPD
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of working in HR role providing HR/OD generalist advice in a public sector organisation or large-scale multi-site private sector employer.
- Experience of taking HR/OD lead in projects, working in collaboration with managers and union representatives.
- Demonstrates proven experience across a broad range of advisory work across the spectrum of HR/OD related disciplines at a senior level
Professional/Specialist Knowledge
Essential criteria- In-depth and up to date knowledge of employment law and HR/OD best practice
- Up to date knowledge of NHS EDI objectives and agenda’s and the Equality Act 2010
