Open ended contract: permanent

Full time: 35 hours per week

The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Technician within the Fabrication Team, you will work across a range of dynamic workshops, which includes our Wood workshops, Metal workshops, Casting workshops and Foundry and Glass workshops, assisting students with their projects and under the support and guidance of a Technical Manager and Specialist Technicians, provide general maintenance and workshop activities.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is keen to gain new skills in multiple areas across our technical workshops.

Your skills and attributes for success:

Vocational qualifications (N/SVQ 2/3, ONC or equivalent) plus work experience in a relevant role OR school education to standard grade or equivalent plus relevant work experience.
Working knowledge and experience of relevant processes and equipment to include at least 2 of: wood working, metal working, mould making or glass making
A good awareness and understanding of Health and Safety practices within an educational environment.
Demonstrable knowledge, interest and experience of working in an Art and / or Design background
Excellent communication skills with an ability to produce documentation and help material for students and staff

Ability to work effectively in a team under minimal supervision, and to work with students and staff of a variety of levels of technical ability.

Excellent time management skills
