Job overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and adaptable Pharmacy dispenser/assistant to undertake a pharmacy apprenticeship. The role requires excellent communication skills and attention to detail, joining our friendly, supportive and welcoming pharmacy team.

This role is ideal to start a career in pharmacy or for someone who has experience of working in pharmacy to provide medicines to patients in an efficient, timely and safe manner.

You will undertake an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent, which will allow you to progress in a career in pharmacy.

We welcome applications from people working in community pharmacy or other roles detailing with customers/patients. Previous pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for receiving medicines from suppliers, assisting with inventory control, supplying medicines to all areas of the trust as stock and dispensing medicines to patients. The post holder will also work with robotic technology and automated medicine cabinets

The post holder will work in the Pharmacy Dispensary providing support to our busy reception area, and dispensing prescriptions for inpatients, outpatients and for discharge as well as those for Controlled Drugs. They will also provide support to the Distribution Team and the Pharmacy Storekeeper, receiving deliveries of medicines and ‘topping up’ ward stock.

They will have excellent interpersonal skills, be good at managing their time, be flexible in their approach to work and be an excellent team player.

The post holder will also be expected to take part in the weekend, and bank holiday rotas to enable an effective service provision over across the whole week.

This position is not currently eligible for a certificate of sponsorship in line with Home Office guidance as it does not appear on the skilled worker visa occupation list.

Essential criteria
  • Minimum GSCE Grade C or equivalent in Maths and English
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ L2 in Pharmacy Services
