Teacher of English (Maternity Cover)
What skills and experience we're looking for
An exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher, or someone new to the profession, to teach KS3 and KS4 English at this successful and growing academy. We wish to appoint an ambitious, enthusiastic teacher to cover a maternity leave in the English department from February 2025 (January start will be considered).This is a part time (0.8 FTE) post.
Having achieved the best results in the school’s history in summer 2023, followed by a visit from Ofsted in May 2024, where we were judged as a strong ‘Good’ in all areas, Buckler’s Mead Academy is going from strength to strength.
English is a subject highly regarded by staff and students of Buckler’s Mead Academy. Over recent years, the subject has seen rapid improvements in KS4 outcomes alongside curriculum and teaching developments. The English Department is a well led, highly supportive and cohesive team.We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about their subject and eager to make a genuine difference to our students.
The successful candidate should be:
- Hard working and fully committed to the ethos of the academy.
- Confident in teaching English at KS3 and KS4.
- Enthusiastic and willing to try new ideas, taking responsibility for new initiatives.
- Keen to support the teaching of excellence by improving student outcomes.
- Someone with sky high expectations of students, whilst fully appreciating the need to provide encouragement and support to students of all abilities.
- Capable of working with staff from all areas of the academy, external agencies and partner schools.
- Interested in continuing professional development.
