Clinical Director of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation

We have a great opportunity for a dynamic, inclusive and innovative Clinical Director of Pharmacy & Medicines Optimisation to join our team at the University Teaching Hospital of North Midlands.

We are keen to appoint someone who will have the confidence to deliver significant service transformation and shape the strategic direction for pharmacy and medicines optimisation. They will provide professional leadership and direction for all registered pharmacy staff employed by the Trust and be committed to improving and strengthening an inclusive culture within pharmacy services, where colleagues can speak up and be involved in shared decision making.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Director you will strategically lead and be accountable for the delivery of pharmacy services across the Trust, ensuring quality and safety within the pharmacy service and statutory requirements are met. You will ensure that the pharmacy services provided are progressive and forward thinking, responsive to internal and external demand and are patient focussed, safe, efficient and effective

You will be part of the Women’s, Children’s and Support Services Division and report operationally to the Divisional Operations Director and Divisional Medical Director with professional accountability to the Chief Medical Officer. The role will require close working with stakeholders across the Trust and with colleagues across the Integrated Care System.

Your ability and experience of driving and successfully achieving change will enable you to provide the leadership and strategic direction required to bring together our teams in the delivery of a patient-focused, cost-effective and high-quality service.

You will hold a relevant professional registration and will have successfully led services within an acute NHS setting. You must have the ability to be creative and innovative to generate opportunities for the service and have experience of service transformation and strategic planning.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Masters Qualification in Pharmacy (4 years) plus successful completion of 1 year pre-registration experience.
  • Post-graduate qualification relevant to hospital pharmacy practice
Desirable criteria
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent practice (within the last 8 years) in a leadership role within hospital pharmacy as either a Chief Pharmacist of a District General Hospital or Deputy Chief Pharmacist of a teaching hospital
  • Recent experience in leading transformational / quality improvement work
