The Extra Care Charitable Trust are recruiting for a Relief Neighbourhood Ranger (Nights), based at our Lark Hill Retirement Village in Nottingham.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Night Ranger to join our friendly team at our Lark Hill Retirement Village and support the village’s commitment in delivering Extra Care’s mission of “better lives for older people”.

Hours: Relief
Location: Lark Hill Retirement Village, Nottingham, NG11 8BH

Rate: £12.74 ph.

As a Neighbourhood Night Ranger, your priority will be to ensure the safety and welfare of Residents throughout the evenings and nighttime’s by monitoring all activities in the village during this period.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Ensure the safety and welfare of Residents during the evening and nighttime by monitoring all activities in the village during this period.
  • To meet with the Team Leader for handover at the beginning of shift and obtain all relevant information and on completion of shift, to pass on any relevant information or incident reports from the night before, to Team Leader as part of handover.
  • Patrolling inside, checking fire panels, plugged in buggies, all workshops, fire exits, kitchen and laundries are checked. Check if all residents have left the bar, if so, turn Village lights off and tidy bar area. Also patrol outside and the perimeters of the village during the evening and night.
  • Occasional monitoring of CCTV surveillance to identify areas of concern.
  • To take the gas meter reading monthly and to update the door lock on a quarterly basis.
  • To respond to calls from concerned residents in relation to security breaches in a timely fashion, and to take appropriate action as necessary.
  • To provide a safe environment for other night staff members by escorting them to on-site locations, outside of the Village Centre as part of their night duties or to react to emergency calls
  • To provide emergency first aid to Residents, staff and other visitors within the village if required.
  • To make calls to emergency services or take appropriate action in the event of a serious incident or emergency, as and when required.
  • Liaising with the Maintenance Supervisor, maintain a current register of contractors’ emergency contact details and their responsibilities, and ensure they are accessible in the event of them being required during the evening, night.
  • To ensure all internal and external contact details are up to date, kept secure but available in the event of emergencies.
  • To understand which internal or external contact should be informed for specified incidents.
  • To undertake cleaning routines within the village alongside the night team to the standards set by Extra Care and the Village Manager.
  • To manage and undertake an ongoing schedule of repairs or services, which could be undertaken in the evening. e.g., ad hoc repairs, decorating, painting, carpet repairs, lost keys, door entry systems etc. This is not an exhaustive list.
  • To liaise with the Maintenance Manager regarding any concerns with communal and external lighting or any Health & Safety/Maintenance related issues in accordance with ECCT policy and procedures.
