SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity

We are proud to partner with a dedicated SEN school in search of a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant.

The school supports pupils with a range of special educational needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), and ADHD.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide personalised support to students with special educational needs, ensuring equal access to the curriculum.
  • Assist the class teacher in lesson planning and preparation, adapting resources to cater for individual student needs.
  • Collaborate closely with SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies and support individual behaviour plans to promote emotional and social development.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCO, and contributing to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support pupils with personal care when required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives to promote inclusion and foster positive relationships among students.
Requirements:
  • Full-time availability during term time (part-time positions are not available).
  • A minimum of six months of experience working with SEN students in a school or similar setting.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of SEN conditions, particularly SEMH, ASD, and ADHD.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
  • A DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.

  • Passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children with SEN.
