We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager - Technical to join the Print & Kindle Books Catalog team. The Catalog is the core foundation of Amazon's shopping experience. In this role, you will have a tangible impact on millions of Amazon customers worldwide and influence how authors, publishers, and readers engage with each other.

The Senior Product Manager - Technical will define strategy and deliver products from concept to execution. They own customer requirements and roadmaps, evaluate risks and trade-offs, and analyze data and create metrics to measure effectiveness.

They work cross-functionally to deliver value for customers, partnering closely with teams including software development, data science, user experience, customer support, and other global partners.

The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex problems for customers. They can think big and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where their ideas and contributions are valued. They enjoy diving deep into both data and anecdotes, they bring clarity to ambiguity, and have a proven track record of delivering results by focusing on the most impactful work.

They are experienced managing customer-facing technical products, executing in partnership with software development teams, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. They are able to influence global teams and can advocate for their product vision up to senior executives.

Key job responsibilities
  • Work backwards from customer problems to set the vision for a suite of catalog products
  • Lead the analysis of data, anecdotes and benchmarks to scope new opportunities
  • Manage a roadmap and backlog of features and drive prioritization decisions
  • Facilitate discussions regarding technical and architectural trade-offs in partnership with development teams
  • Write detailed product requirement documents defining use cases, features, and success metrics
  • Deliver high-impact product launches managing key risks, dependencies, and post-launch success
  • Own operational excellence and continues improvement
  • Lead communication and stakeholder engagement with key partner teams and senior leaders
  • Mentor and support other team members

A day in the life

Day to day activities include (1) working with software development to design and plan for new product solutions, (2) analyzing data to identify customer insights and new opportunities, (3) tracking progress against prioritized roadmaps of product development activities, (4) monitoring customer feedback and handling emerging operational issues, (5) participating in discussions about challenging decisions, trade-offs, and risks, (6) communicating about priorities and influencing key stakeholders

In this role, you will get the opportunity to help us deliver on this vision, while gaining experience in leading technical products and honing your skills as a strategic, data-driven product manager. - Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in technical product management, program management or engineering
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience with end to end product delivery
  • Experience owning feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning- Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight
  • Experience performing statistical analysis of data using SQL, Excel and other tools
  • MBA or Master's degree in a relevant field
