Description and Requirements

Over the past decade, Lenovo has developed a strong ESG framework and robust sustainability initiatives. With a focus on the circular economy, resilience, and using smarter services and technology to solve global challenges, Lenovo has made substantial progress.

Role Overview

The Director of Strategy for Global Sustainability Services will play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term strategic roadmap, ensuring alignment with Lenovo’s ESG framework and evolving market needs. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Product Services, this individual will lead strategic initiatives, market analysis, and the development of sustainability services across the portfolio.

You will be responsible for ensuring that Lenovo’s sustainability strategy translates into operational excellence, while collaborating with global stakeholders and customers to meet their ESG objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with the extended Sustainability Portfolio team to define and drive the long-term strategic direction for the Global Sustainability Services portfolio.
Identify emerging sustainability trends, competitive opportunities, and customer needs to inform strategy.
Lead the development of strategic frameworks, including business models, roadmaps, and multiyear plans to position Lenovo as a leader in Sustainable IT solutions.
Ensure alignment of the Sustainability Services portfolio with Lenovo’s overall corporate ESG strategy, focusing on innovation and impact.
Foster partnerships with internal business units to identify new opportunities for sustainability initiatives and ensure portfolio integration.
Develop initiatives to expand Lenovo’s role in the circular economy, ensuring sustainable design and lifecycle management across products.
Support the execution of global programs, branding, and communications efforts for Sustainability Services, ensuring alignment with key corporate goals.
Oversee performance tracking and analysis to ensure strategic objectives are met and adjust plans accordingly.
Lead market research and competitive intelligence activities to identify key industry developments and customer trends that will shape the future of Sustainability Services.
Work closely with global teams to translate strategy into actionable programs, and oversee the successful incubation and execution of key initiatives.

Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, providing insights on sustainability trends and translating them into business opportunities.

Basic Qualifications: 10+ years of experience in strategy development, ideally within a fast-paced, global corporate environment.

5+ years of experience in Sustainability or ESG-focused roles, preferably in IT services.
Proven expertise in turning strategic insights into executable programs and business outcomes.

Strong track record of cross-functional collaboration in a global matrixed organization.

Preferred Qualifications: Deep understanding of sustainability trends, the circular economy, and ESG metrics.

Experience developing and executing multiyear strategic roadmaps and business management systems (BMS).
Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to lead and influence global, cross-functional teams.
Outstanding analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
Expertise in executive-level presentations and communications.
Experience working in IT or technology-driven sectors, with a focus on sustainability innovations.
Strong knowledge of global sustainability regulations, standards, and certifications.
