Summary

We’re looking for two Content Designers to join our team on a fixed-term contract until February 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile project focused on improving our work experience. Our staff intranet, Acorn, contains information, organisational news, systems and processes which thousands of colleagues use to do their day-to-day jobs on a range of devices.

You’ll be working on improvements, auditing, refreshing and creating the content.

We welcome applications on a full or part-time basis.

What it's like to work here

You’ll report to the Content Marketing Manager for the Acorn Improvement project and work closely with other content designers in a busy, collaborative team.

You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon with an expectation of a minimum of 1 day per week presence in the Swindon office to work with your team in-person.

However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

To allow our teams to do their jobs effectively we need to ensure existing content is up to date, streamlined and accessible. It’ll be your role to audit, optimise and create written content for our internal employee intranet.

You’ll evaluate existing content and support stakeholders to create engaging user-led content. Relationship building and communication will be key as you’ll work closely with a range of subject-specialist content owners across the organisation.

Using your great understanding of web content best-practice and SEO and ease of working with numbers you’ll make recommendations based on analytics data.

You can view the full profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what is possible in this role.

Who we're looking for

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • experience of digital content management including creating, auditing and managing written content
  • knowledge of creating engaging, audience-focused, accessible digital written content
  • an understanding of insight analytics data and its role in delivering good content experiences
  • experience working flexibly and proactively within a matrix team
  • experience managing client relationships to deliver content for wide-ranging audiences
  • workload planning and organisation skills

The package

The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve.

We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.

  • Substantial pension scheme of up to 10% basic salary
  • Free entry to National Trust places for you, a guest and your children (under 18)
  • Rental deposit loan scheme
  • Season ticket loan
  • EV car lease scheme
  • Perks at work discounts such as gym memberships, shopping discount codes, cinema discounts
  • Holiday allowance up to 32 days relating to length of service, plus holiday purchase scheme, subject to meeting minimum criteria.
  • Flexible working whenever possible
  • Employee assistance programme
