Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 5 GCSEs A - C or 9 - 4 including Maths and English or relevant demonstrable experienceKnowledge of tenancy management processes and relevant legislation.
Experience in housing management or a similar role involving direct contact with tenants.
Demonstrate experience of working with customers, partners and external agenciesStrong communication and interpersonal skills.
Effective decision-making and resolution skills.
Strong ability to engage with tenants professionally.
Desirable:
Housing qualification (e.g., CIH Level 3)Experience in estate management.
What's involved with this role: As a Neighbourhood Housing Officer, you will play a crucial role in proactively managing tenancies across Gateshead. Your focus will be on providing early intervention and support to prevent tenancy failures. You will be the main point of contact for tenants, delivering a range of services such as property condition checks, managing tenancy breaches, and overseeing estate management.Additionally, you will report and address environmental issues to ensure the neighbourhoods remain clean, safe, and sustainable. By engaging directly with residents, you’ll contribute to fostering a positive and well-maintained living environment.
Key responsibilities:
Proactively manage and support tenancies, offering advice and guidance to tenants to prevent tenancy failures.Regularly inspect properties to ensure they meet tenancy standards, identifying any issues or breaches and taking appropriate action.
Identify and manage tenancy breaches, ensuring timely resolution in line with tenancy agreements and housing policies.
Report and address environmental concerns (e.g., antisocial behaviour, litter, and damage) to maintain a clean, safe, and sustainable neighbourhood.
Serve as the main point of contact for tenants, addressing queries, resolving issues, and maintaining positive relationships.
Work closely with colleagues, external agencies, and stakeholders to support effective tenancy and estate management.
Maintain accurate records of tenant interactions, property inspections, and actions taken, preparing reports for management as required.
