Main duties of the job- To support the wider catering team in the provision of all catering services including covering and supporting other catering roles as required by the needs of the service.
- Cleaning and deep cleaning duties as required within the catering department, including patient’s crockery, cutlery, service utensils, food boxes, patient trays, flight dishwasher, floors, fridges, freezers and Cook-Chill hold rooms
- To ensure basic food hygiene standards are maintained and breeches are communicated appropriately and in a timely manner, in accordance with the departmental food safety documentation.
- To record accurate temperatures in line with food preparation and cooking procedures - HACCP.
- Communicate and liaise with staff across the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities- Communicates information with/to colleagues, staff, suppliers, patients and public.
- To support the wider catering team in the provision of all catering services including covering and supporting other catering roles as required by the needs of the service.
- Preparation of sandwiches, salads, fruit for the patients/restaurant and hospitality/function services.
- The service of food in the restaurant, coffee shop, including setting up and clearing down of service area.
- Cleaning and deep cleaning duties as required within the catering department, including patient’s crockery, cutlery, service utensils, food boxes, patient trays, flight dishwasher, floors, fridges, freezers and Cook-Chill hold rooms
- To be responsible for the general cleaning and deep cleaning of the Restaurant, servery area, washing up area, store rooms, function/Hospitality room, servery equipment, coffee machines, crockery, cutlery, tables, and all areas within the Restaurant.

Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria- Demonstration of previous work experience paid or voluntary.
- Customer Service and Customer focused awareness
- Awareness of Food Hygiene
- Dealing with people
- Good standard of general education
- Must be able to fulfil the physical requirements of the post to include: Manual handling, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, repetitive movements. Moving trolleys, beds etc
- Use a variety of equipment
- Willingness to learn new skills and apply in workplace
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Flexible attitude and ability to work as part of a team and on their own
