Job overview

Clinical Skills Nursing Associate will actively participate in provision of educational activities undertaken within the Clinical Skills Centre and in clinical areas.

To assist in all require aspects of the daily running of the Clinical Skills Centre including assisting with training as part of Clinical Education and Development Team.

Communication with members of the multidisciplinary teams is essential in ensuring seamless and excellent provision of training. The post-holder will be a highly organised individual with attention to detail to ensure minimal disruption of course delivery.

The role is flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the health and social care systems. Supervision and teaching of junior staff will be part of the role.

Main duties of the job

Primarily be based in the Clinical Skills Team but will be expected to work flexibly across the service to provide support and training to support staff, particularly those new to role.

Have clinical credibility to act as a role model for clinical support staff in order to promote safe and quality care.

Must adhere to WUTH policies and procedures at all times.

Must conduct self as required by the national code of conduct for healthcare support workers and work within the scope of own practice.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • Nursing Associate Foundation Degree or Equivalent Qualification
  • 5 GCSE’s including English & Mathematics or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL (or equivalent) or working towards
  • Technical simulation qualification

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • 2 years clinical experience
  • Competent user of Word, Access, Outlook and Excel and Database Management Systems (e.g. Oracle)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of teaching and training in the workplace
  • Evidence of problem-solving ability
  • Able to prioritise
  • Recent evidence of development within a health care setting (ideally clinical skills but not essential)

Personal Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communicator verbal & written
  • Enjoy working in a learning environment
  • Organise the day to day equipment requirements to ensure the smooth running of sessions within the clinical skills lab
  • Comfortable working on their own when required and as part of a team
  • A flexible attitude and the ability to cope in an environment where every day has a different routine and there is a lot of change
  • Must be aware of the importance of confidentiality
  • Willing to undertake further training as necessary

  • Ability to demonstrate all of these skills in a previous working environment/ role

Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria

Should this vacancy be recruited as an apprenticeship, the following criteria will apply:

UK nationals or other persons with a right of abode have an eligible residency status if they have been ordinarily resident in the UK or the British Overseas Territories, or the Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for at least the previous 3 years on the first day of the apprenticeship.

The amount would vary depending on the level required: Standard Disclosure £21.50+£6.50 or Enhanced Disclosure £49.50+£6.50 (please be aware the additional sum is an administration fee and may increase due to inflation).

This will be deducted from your salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.
