Musical Theatre Teacher (Peripatetic)
West Buckland School is seeking a passionate and dynamic Musical Theatre teacher to join our team. If you are a creative, forward-thinking practitioner with a dedication to inspiring students across all year groups, this is the opportunity for you!
As part of our thriving Performing Arts department, you will deliver engaging lessons in Musical Theatre, working with students from Year 3 to Year 13, preparing them for LAMDA and ABRSM graded exams and fostering a deep love for the performing arts.You will work across both the Prep School and Senior School, running musical theatre clubs and providing individual lessons, preparing students for exams up to Grade 8. You will also help to prepare musical theatre showcases and festivals and also have the opportunity to be on the creative team preparing school concerts, plays, and musicals.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the Performing Arts and a desire to promote the subject throughout the school. Candidates who are already familiar with the syllabus would be preferable, although this is not necessarily essential.
This is a part-time peripatetic position (dependent on the number of students wishing to take lessons) at our prep and senior school campus. However, there is the opportunity to increase hours further depending on pupil demand.
All members of the Performing Arts department at West Buckland School support each other with their expertise, and we hope our new Musical Theatre teacher will be a team player and eager to engage with many elements of the extracurricular curriculum.
Music and Drama is thriving at West Buckland School. We stage ambitious whole-school musicals at The Landmark Theatre, Ilfracombe as well as smaller productions in our purpose-built 150 Theatre. We also have use of a Drama Studio. Our annual 150 Theatre Festival is an opportunity for Musical Theatre students to showcase their performance work, as well as our 150 Theatre Gala evening.We hold LAMDA examinations termly and have a history of excellent exam results. We often see students continue with studying the Performing Arts at Drama School and University and frequently have students accepted onto the NYT and NYMT courses.
Hours of work
This is a part-time peripatetic appointment, on a self-employed basis. The school operates Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:30am and 5:00pm as dictated by the school calendar.
