- You will also have line management responsibilities for the Clinical Research Delivery Team, supporting their development and ensuring effective day-to-day operations.

- Lead and coordinate paediatric clinical research activities within the Vaccine Institute (VI), Centre for Neonatal and Paediatric Infection (CNPI), and the wider Trust.
- Provide line management and professional support to the Clinical Research Delivery Team, including Research Nurses and Clinical Trial Coordinators.
- Ensure all research is conducted in strict adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, with patient safety and well-being as the top priority.
- Act as a clinical leader and expert practitioner, providing mentorship and support to the multidisciplinary team.
- Operate with a high level of autonomy, making delegated clinical decisions and working closely with investigators and healthcare professionals.
- Facilitate informed patient participation, ensuring research participants receive clear, comprehensive information while advocating for their needs.
- Collaborate closely with Principal Investigators, clinicians, and research teams to maintain high standards of data integrity and patient care.
- Contribute to ongoing COVID-19 research within the Vaccine Institute.
- Support the development of new research opportunities and expansion into other paediatric specialties.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, with the willingness to support research across different clinical specialties as required.

Person specification
Education & Quals
Essential criteria- Registered Paediatric Nurse
- Completed post graduate qualification in speciality or clinical research related field
- Teaching & assessing qualification or equivalent relevant experience
- Completed Master’s degree in the speciality or related field or willing to work towards
Previous experience/ knowledge
Essential criteria- Experience of managing a complex clinical research workload at Band 6 or above
- Knowledge and experience of handling complex relationships
- Experience of collaborating with other agencies
- Evidence of successfully working with and contributing to a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of developing others through CPD / PDR / clinical supervision
- Experience of formal/ informal teaching of patients and staff
- Experience and evidence of using highly developed motivational and negotiation skills to affect change.
- Experience of explaining complex concepts to patients in a clear and simplified manner
- Working knowledge of legislation & guidelines relevant to clinical research
- Experience of working as a patients advocate
- Experience of phlebotomy
Skills
Essential criteria- Ability to manage own & other’s time, workload and caseload effectively
- Computer literacy including e-mails, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & databases utilised in clinical research
- Ability to use effective written & verbal skills to overcome barriers to communication.
