Medical Secretary | Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust - Chelmsford
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Medical Secretary to join the Respiratory team, working 5 days a week undertaking the core hours of 8am - 4pm.
If successful you will use your skills and expertise to provide efficient and effective medical secretarial support to a team of consultants and associated medical staff. Having a positive, enthusiastic and "can do" attitude with a strong work ethic is important.You must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable in dealing with patients telephone calls and queries. You will require competency in all Microsoft Office 365 packages. The ability to demonstrate your initiative and work as part of a dedicated team is an important part of this job.
To provide efficient and effective medical secretarial support to Consultants and medical staff.
If successful, you will be expected to act on their own initiative and provide cross cover/support for other secretaries as necessary to facilitate effective service function.
The medical secretary faces a challenging range of tasks including proof reading clinic /result letters, sending external referrals, receiving and processing new referrals, supporting with administration support for local MDT meetings and audits, responding to departmental emails and voicemails, dealing with departmental complaints, managing consultant diaries.

Your main responsibilities will be to provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Consultant and their team and support with the demands of the service as required.
Previous medical secretarial experience in a mental health or other NHS setting and clinical systems knowledge is desirable. Audio typing skills and experience in a similar role would be highly beneficial.
