SEND Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
  • Good working knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum
  • Work with SEND children of mixed abilities and needs
  • Supporting students with SEND on an individual and within a group environment
  • Providing personal care support if/when required
  • Assist in delivering tailored lessons to meet individual needs
  • Develop & support with social, emotional & academic needs
  • Supporting teachings with implementing and monitoring Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Follow school policies and procedures with regards to safeguarding and behaviour
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents and liaise with all to maintain clear communication
  • Showing initiative and asking for direction if needed
SEND Teaching Assistant Requirements:
  • Relevant qualifications or SEND Teaching Assistant experience in the classroom (e.g. CACHE Level 3 Diploma in childcare)
  • UK experience supporting children with SEND
  • Compassion, patience, empathy, and the ability to work proactively with students who may demonstrate challenging behaviour
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered with the update service or be willing to complete a new DBS
