Job overview
The Specialty Medicine Directorate are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and suitably experienced Support Medical Secretary to support the Respiratory Service.
The successful candidate will be required to work on their own initiative and demonstrate excellent typing skills, have a flexible approach and excellent communication & organisational skills.
Working days to be decided at interview.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of this role will be to provide secretarial and administration support such as audio typing, undertaking mail and filing duties, tracking patient records, managing patient pathways by following RTT guidelines, and liaising with patients, relatives/carers and external partners on a daily basis.
A good understanding of the principles of Referral to Treatment is also required and an empathetic approach to customer care, therefore an excellent telephone manner will need to be demonstrated.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- RSA/OCR Stage III or equivalent in word processing
- Good standard of education
- Knowledge of medical terminology
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of working in an office environment
- Previous Medical Secretary experience
Abilities
Essential criteria- Ability to communicate with staff at all levels; Excellent organisational skills; Excellent telephone manner
- Communicate in Welsh
