Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a secondment post/fixed term post within the Colorectal Department at Prince Charles Hospital .

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with preferably some medical secretarial experience to provide a secretarial and administrative service within the Surgical Department.

The successful candidate will join a friendly secretarial/administration team.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for somebody with excellent communication skills that can work under pressure and be able to use their own initiative, with an ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.

The ideal candidate will need to have exceptional typing skills and fully competent in audio-typing.

The ideal candidate will need to have excellent organisational and time management skills to co-ordinate and manage clinical diaries, clinical activity and ensure workload is prioritised to ensure the best possible patient care.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • RSA III in word processing or equivalent/NVQ; Excellent standard of education
  • Knowledge of Health Board’s WPAS system and tracker/Radis; Knowledge of RTT and patient pathways
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience as an assistant medical secretary or similar role
Desirable criteria
  • Working as an Assistant Medical Secretary
  • Experience of working in a hospital environment

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Accurate typing and the ability to use an audio type back system
