Facilities Manager - Portering, Security & Car Parking Band 7 - 37.5 hours - WCH

The Facilities Manager will provide support across a range of managerial and technical functions, providing leadership to the staff within their remit in the Facilities management structure. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the provision of Soft FM services in their area of responsibility is delivered to the highest standard of quality efficiency and value for money.

Main duties of the job
  • Create pathways for continuous development of staff within area of responsibility, motivate and lead staff to achieve your team goals, leading into the overall Facilities objectives and the Trust Business Plan.
  • Effectively manage staff within area of responsibility providing support and advice, formal supervisions, performance reviews etc and in doing so the post holder is exposed to dealing with emotional or distressing staffing circumstances where their key communication skills will be utilised regularly
  • Recruit and employ within area of responsibility
  • Be responsible for supervisions, appraisals and personal development plans for staff within area of responsibility.
  • Be responsible for sickness and annual leave management of staff within area of responsibility.
  • Be the authorised budget and service management signatory for staff forms relevant to area of responsibility e.g. timesheets, lease requests, travel expenses etc up to the level of authority assigned by the Trusts SFI’s
  • Negotiate with the staff within own area of responsibility to meet deadlines, and provide leadership, coaching and support as required.
  • Work closely with the HR department and the Union when reviewing staffing arrangements.
  • Provide direct line management to the staff within area of responsibility

Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

Please note the cost of the DBS check is increasing from 2^nd December and the new cost will be

Standard DBS check £21.50, Enhanced DBS check £49.50 + any admin costs.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent management experience
  • Minimum of 3 standard grades GCSE or equivalent C or above
  • ILM Level 5 Award in Leadership & Management or equivalent management experience
Desirable criteria
  • Recruitment & Selection training
  • Train the Trainer
  • Share Point, Microsoft Office suite- advanced training

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge, understanding and a minimum of 5 years operational soft facilities management
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Knowledge and understanding financial budgetery controls
  • Health & Safety knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
  • Management in an NHS hospital enviroment
  • Project Management
  • Knowledge and understanding of Soft FM functions, policies and guidance, PLACE, ERIC & CQC
