Job Title: Window Hardware Test Technician
Location: Clacton on Sea
Reports To: Product Design Manager
Salary: £25,000 per annum

Hours: 39 hours per week

Mon-Thu: 08:00 – 16:30

Fri: 08:00 – 15:30

Purpose

Working closely with the Senior Test Engineer, the Window Hardware Test Technician will help operate our UKAS-accredited test lab for window hardware products, including locks and hinges. This role involves performing technical tests, managing calibrations, and supporting quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Testing: Assist in UKAS test procedures, ensuring compliance with company quality management and legislative requirements.
Technical Support: Gain in-depth knowledge of Nico hardware products to assist with technical sales inquiries.
Manual Handling: Operate lifting equipment to manage windows up to 75 kg, including loading/unloading onto test rigs.
Calibration Management: Oversee external calibration schedules and perform in-house calibration of test equipment.
Documentation: Administer, adjust, and maintain test procedures and data logging in alignment with WTN/UKAS requirements.
Legislative Updates: Keep current with legislative testing standards and update relevant documentation and staff.

Representation: Attend national test board seminars/briefings as a representative of the Windows Test House, as required.

Relationships

Internal: Collaborate with the Senior Test Engineer, Technical Design Manager, design staff, Works Director, sales, production, shop floor staff, toolroom, and maintenance teams.

External: Liaise with UKAS, Warrington, customers, and calibration contractors.

Candidate Profile
Qualifications: Mechanical Engineering qualification (e.g., City & Guilds Level 2, NVQ).
Experience: Proven experience in a mechanical engineering environment.
Skills: Proficiency with Word, Outlook, and Excel; strong communication skills and telephone manner.

Attributes: Interest in testing procedures, a willingness to learn, and a proactive approach to task management.
