These provide multi-disciplinary community-based support for service users living in the borough who have a diagnosis of a serious mental illness, the focus being on person centred recovery focused care within the individual’ s home and local community.Successful candidates will be enthusiastic and motivated to support service users with complex mental health needs to reach their recovery goals.
The post holder will deliver Occupational Therapy provision to a small, designated caseload focusing on functional daily living skills and the empowerment of mental health recovery. This will include the assessment, treatment, and evaluation of occupational therapy interventions, the carrying out of functional ADL assessments and the contribution to multidisciplinary team care planning and risk assessments.
Effective written and verbal communication skills with a working knowledge of the occupational therapy process and application of the Model of Human Occupation are also essential.
Newly qualified Occupational Therapists will be supported through the Trust Preceptorship Programme. With direct supervision and line management support from the team’s Occupational Therapists, the opportunity exists for the successful applicant to further develop their skills and experience; enabling them to look forward to dynamic career progression within NELFT.
The team offers a blended approach of working from home with office-based work, whilst flexible working patterns are also supported. Free staff parking is available on site. We also have excellent public transport links to our base, Upney Lane Underground Station being on our doorstep!’

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).
