An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the mid grade pharmacist team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. This post is part of our mid-grade pharmacists’ programme, which includes support to develop a specialist clinical role as well as core senior pharmacist skills including prescribing, education, quality improvement and leadership.
At ward level, as part of the Admissions team, you will work closely with consultants and ward-based staff, providing pharmaceutical expertise to ensure the safety of patients. You will be responsible for helping to mentor both foundation pharmacists and pre-registration pharmacists, and will be given opportunities to gain experience in all levels of clinical service, education and training, leadership and operational co-ordination of a team.
Applicants must have a postgraduate clinical certificate or equivalent clinical experience by the start date (latest January 2025), and will be supported to undertake a prescribing qualification if they do not already hold one.
Main duties of the job
Providing specialist clinical pharmacy support to the Admissions team, provide operational leadership to a designated ward based pharmacy team and supporting our foundation pharmacist-led weekend clinical service, this job would suit a pharmacist with excellent clinical knowledge, who is keen to develop their leadership qualities.
Further clinical and quality improvement skills will also be required in aiding the senior pharmacist team to develop and implement new services and processes.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- GPhC registration
- Postgraduate Clinical Certificate or equivalent clinical experience by January 2025
- Independent Prescriber or willingness and eligibility to undertake course
- Member of UKCPA
- Valid Driving Licence
Skills
Essential criteria- Proven IT skills-standard PC software to ECDL level
- Ability to integrate into multidiscplinary team
- Knowledge of and commitment to CPD and reflective practice
- Patient counselling skills-proven experience

Experience
Essential criteria- Substantial proven relevant experience as a clinical pharmacist at band 6 (or equivalent) or above
- Provision of mentoring and/or supervision for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and/or pre-registration pharmacy graduates
- Proven experience of successful multidisciplinary working
- Experience of quality improvement in a healthcare setting
- Provision of training and advice to pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals
- Experience of collection, analysis and presentation of financial, workload and audit data
- Experience of leading a quality improvement project
