Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist ready to lead a motivated stroke team in a well-supported and forward-thinking environment?
This maternity cover post offers you the opportunity to step into a leadership role where you’ll drive existing projects with bringing your own ideas to life. The team has made significant progress in refining processes, delivering impactful training, and embedding best practices.Your role will involve maintaining this momentum, ensuring continuity in the excellent work already in place, while also having the autonomy to deliver key improvements.
Although this is a temporary post, it’s a chance to make a lasting difference while expanding your leadership and project management experience.

Person specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria- HCPC registration
- Degree/postgraduate qualification in SLT
- Evidence of extensive postgraduate training
- RCSLT membership
- Clinical supervisory skills course
- Postgraduate diploma/MSc or equivalent evidence of advanced SLT practice
- Current competencies in instrumental assessment
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria- Significant clinical experience working in a stroke rehabilitation setting
- Significant clinical experience working as part of a multi-professional team
- Experience of managing/supervising junior staff
- Research and Development
- Experience using and interpreting instrumental assessment (videofluoroscopy and/or FEES)
- Experience of training SLT students at all grades
- Experience of audit and/or quality assurance
- Experience of producing protocols and procedures for use by others
- Experience or involvement of implementing guidance/policy
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria- Advanced communication skills at all levels - oral, written, interpersonal
- Good organisational skills and time management
- Teaching/presentation skills in a variety of settings and to a variety of professional groups/grades
- Computer skills i.e. Databases, Excel
- Advanced analytical and clinical reasoning skills
- Counselling skills
- Evidence of published own work/articles etc
- Behavioural and motivational interviewing skills
