The LYPFT Safeguarding team are looking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced, registered nurse/AHP/Social worker with a background in safeguarding. The post holder will work equally across the safeguarding agenda for both children and adults at risk.
The post holder will work as part of a team of safeguarding practitioners supporting the Head of safeguarding, Named Nurse for children and adults and the Trusts Named Doctor in ensuring the Trust discharges its responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children and adults at risk.

The post holder will need to demonstrate recent experience in safeguarding children and adults in a health care setting. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of the safeguarding agenda including policy and procedure, strategic planning and education and training as well as audit and evaluation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide expert safeguarding advice on a daily basis to Trust staff managing adults children and families with complex safeguarding concerns. You will contribute to multi agency partnership working arrangements for both safeguarding adults and children.

Planning, facilitating and delivery of safeguarding training is a key role along with the provision of safeguarding supervision across the Trust.

Essential criteria
  • Registered practitioner Educated to degree level (Safeguarding /Health or Social Care. Evidence of up to date CPD.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • The post holder must have significant working knowledge of children’s and adults local authority services, with significant experience in safeguarding children’s work (link worker or equivalent). The post holder will demonstrate knowledge of the children’s act and will be aware of current affairs, Working together, Munroe report and recommendations. The post holder will have a working knowledge of the children’s act 2004 and the social care act 2014, substance misuse and domestic abuse and its impact on families.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of interagency partnership working at a strategic level. Experience of providing investigative reports following serious incidents. Ability to prepare reports, analyse highly complex data for Boards, Committees and Management groups. Work closely with all Trust Managers to identify areas for improvement for Child and Adult Safeguarding and MAPPA practice, developing and implementing remedial action plans to address the issues. This post holder will demonstrate positive values with regard to families and children, The individual will be self-motivated but work under direction and should be assertive and positive with all agencies. The individual should champion safeguarding adults and children.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • The individual should be able to communicate effectively including negotiating skills and conflict management. The post holder must have demonstrable experience of audit design, implementation and evaluation. The post holder will be able to demonstrate knowledge of risk management process and systems and have experience of the wider public health agenda. The post holder will have experience of teaching or training.
  • Change management, Leadership skills, Evidence of problem solving/ solution focussed thinking. Risk reduction skills, Evidence of research activity / critical appraisal skills. Commitment to evidence-based and contemporary practice. Demonstrates an awareness of the current NHS agenda (safe care delivery and abuse prevention issues).

Fixed Term Contracts for existing NHS Employees – temporary contracts for employees of LYPFT, or colleagues joining from another NHS Trust, will be offered on a secondment basis wherever possible. In the event this is not possible, an FTC would be issued and this would require a break in service of two weeks.

The purpose of a temporary is role could be for maternity cover, temporary funding or some other reason. At the end of which the need for the temporary work will cease. Temporary roles can stop, be extended and/or made permanent at any point during the period of work.

Should the role become permanent then the post-holder will be informed of the process to be followed to convert the position to a permanent one.
