Job Title: Part-Time Student Mechanical Engineer (MSc/MEng) – 3-Month Temporary Role

We are looking for a motivated Student Mechanical Engineer currently pursuing an MSc or MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering. This is a temporary 3-month role offering 20-25 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience using Solid Works, along with some experience in pneumatics and electrical systems.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience using Solid Works, along with some experience in pneumatics and electrical systems.
You will be involved in specific projects related to the design and development of mechanical systems for robotic automation.
Key Responsibilities- Design and development of mechanical components using Solid Works, focusing on robotic and automation systems.
- Work on pneumatic systems as part of the robotic designs, ensuring efficient and reliable operation.
- Assist in the integration of electrical systems with mechanical designs, collaborating with the electrical engineering team for proper functionality.
- Support the prototyping and testing of mechanical and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and improving designs.
- Perform CAD modelling, simulation, and technical analysis of mechanical assemblies to ensure robustness and compliance with project requirements.
- Provide assistance in the preparation of technical documentation, including assembly instructions, test procedures, and design specifications.
- Collaborate with the wider engineering team, including roboticists and software developers, to ensure that designs meet project timelines and specifications.
- Assist with the general maintenance and assembly of robotic systems as required for the duration of the project.
- Currently pursuing an MSc or MEng Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Industrial Design
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with Solid Works for mechanical design, including modelling and simulation.
- Some experience working with pneumatics and electrical systems in a practical or academic setting.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including knowledge of materials, dynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently on project-based tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills to balance part-time work with academic commitments.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Available to work 20-25 hours per week for a 3-month period
- Hands-on experience working on live, cutting-edge robotic projects.
- Mentorship and guidance from experienced engineers in the field.
