We have an exciting opportunity to join the Education and Training workforce at St Bartholomews Hospital.
This post plays a key role in supporting the coordination, training, and local management of learners on pharmacy educational programmes. The post holder will support pharmacy technicians post qualification co-ordinating various pharmacy training and accreditation schemes such as, Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) and medicines management qualifications.
We are looking for an individual with experience in supporting trainees (Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians and Trainee Pharmacy Assistants) and an understanding of the Initial Education Standards (IET) for pharmacy technicians. Alongside trainees the post holder will support the pharmacy team in their continued personal development, working with colleagues to embed education and training in roles.You must possess excellent interpersonal, problem solving and time management skills and able to work with a wide range of professionals.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be the Educational Supervisor, playing a key role supporting the coordination, training and local management of learners on pharmacy educational programmes these will include:- Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPT) undertaking the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians for registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Trainee Pharmacy Assistant (TATO) undertaking the NVQ L2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills
- Co-ordinator for various pharmacy training and accreditation scheme such as, Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) and Medicines Optimisation qualifications.

Essential criteria- Significant experience as a pharmacy technician
- Relevant post-registration experience in an acute hospital’s pharmacy department
- Experience of training staff, giving developmental feedback and implementing training plans
- Demonstrable experience of providing pharmacy professional training, and supporting training for NVQs
- Experience of tutoring / mentoring / supervising staff / trainees
- Setting SMART objectives and creating action plans
- Experience of completing audits
- Use of Datix incident reporting system or equivalent
- Experience of conducting appraisals, one to one meetings and organising meetings with practice supervisors and others
- Experience of patient consultations
- Experience of procedure development and review
- Experience of recruitment and selection
- Management of staff, including experience of conducting disciplinary meetings and chairing meetings with practice supervisors
- Experience of implementing change
Qualifications
Essential criteria- BTEC Pharmaceutical Sciences /NVQ 3 or equivalent
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Educational Supervisor Accreditation or Equivalent
- Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
- HEE LaSE Medicines Optimisation qualification or equivalent
- ILM 3 or equivalent leadership /management qualification
- Training qualification, e.g. CertEd or PETLs
- A1 Assessor or equivalent
