The successful candidate will join the team responsible for the Dermatology services at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, St Cross Hospital Rugby and George Eliot Hospital Nuneaton. The post-holder will help deliver services at the George Elliot site.

The post holder would work closely with other members of the team to support the general dermatological service.

The department is at the beginning of an exciting clinically lead transformation programme, including development of teledermatology and integration with primary care.

Main duties of the job

The Specialist doctor will be expected to provide General Dermatology Service including acute medical dermatology for inpatients.

The post will be based at George Elliot Hospital which is part of the Dermatology service provided by UHCW. Flexibility to undertake face to face and teledermatology clinics including general inflammatory as well as skin cancer services.

The appointee is expected to work independently and to supervise junior doctors attached to the Department. Participation in a weekly skin cancer MDT as well as regular educational activities (Combined clinics, Teaching clinics and Journal clubs) are expected from a successful candidate.

University Hospital is a large modern complex, built four miles north east from the City Centre and one mile from Junction 2 of the M6 Motorway with good connections to the rest of the UK including London and Birmingham. University Hospital consists of 1380 beds on site.
It has an immediate catchment area of approximately 500,000 population and for the sub-regional specialties the Trust serves a population of over 1 million. Accident and emergency department and an Acute Medical Unit are based at University Hospital, Coventry.

Our A&E department is type 1 which delivers consultant led service 24 hours a day. In 2016, we opened fully supported Medical Decision Unit (MDU) which receives direct GP referrals across the area to be reviewed and assessed without waiting in accident and emergency department.
