This strategic leadership role will drive the evolution of CPT operations and processes to support profitable growth across the division. The role will support the CPT executive leadership team in identifying opportunities and implementing process changes which focus on managing expenditure, increasing efficiency, and implementing robust commercial decision making to deliver on company targets and commitments.

This role will oversee the company’s ongoing operations and procedures. As a key member of the senior management team, the role will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of company strategies, ensuring operational efficiency, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

  • Oversee daily business operations of the company, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness, particularly within the areas of budget adherence, customer pricing, contracting, procurement and expenditure.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies, structures, and processes.
  • Ensure alignment of operational goals with the overall company strategy.

Strategic Planning:

  • Lead integration of future M&A activities.
  • Support/Lead evaluation of business development opportunities.

Customer Focus and Support:

  • Ensure contract negotiations & pricing are optimized to drive long-term profitable growth.
  • Oversee customer support processes to ensure timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Gather and analyse stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of specific short-term and long-term projects.
  • Ensure that project goals are met on time, within scope, and within budget.

Financial Management:

  • Ensure financial discipline and accountability within the team.
  • Monitor and report on operational performance, including profitability by key project/customer contract.
  • Assist in developing and managing the operational budget, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including partners, clients, and vendors.
  • Work with the CPT leadership team to manage R&D costs and ensure investment strategies are delivered in line with commitments and goals.
  • Support the CPT leadership team through the annual budget process, monitoring budget and financial performance throughout the year, and taking responsibility for the financial and other reporting obligations to the CPT executive.
  • Manage business performance; understand goals, business insights, and levers needed to achieve business objectives, and enthusiastically assess and frame results.
  • Support the Quality Manager in defining a framework for quality measures across CPT’s various work products and ensure SOPs are maintained to ensure quality.
  • Provide analyses of business metric performance in collaboration with commercial analysts and other subject matter experts within CPT, identifying opportunities to improve business results, decrease costs, increase available capacity, and improve accuracy and timeliness.
  • Create processes and mechanisms for best practice sharing across the CPT division and other Certara businesses to help reduce and eliminate departmental silos.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ management/leadership experience in business operations.
  • 3 years’ finance experience.
  • 3 years’ experience working in a service/management consulting organization.
  • Experience in the Life Science industry sector, pharmaceutical preferred.
  • Experience transforming organizations and managing executive stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience leveraging resources to drive significant business value.
  • Ability to identify gaps and opportunities and drive solutions creatively without relying on exhaustive resources.
  • Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Demonstrated executive presence, innovative, and ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Solid organisational skills and ability to work across multiple functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent reporting skills, including detailed analysis and executive presentations.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a can-do attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
