Vice President Finance, Certara Predictive Technologies

Overview:

The position will have overall responsibilities for all financial activities for the division. The individual may also be tasked with providing leadership in selected financial and business operations, as identified by the division President.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the coordination and development of business unit financial plans and forecasting tool/processes.
  • Create, develop, improve and manage Operational systems and processes, primarily in finance and other support related areas, to align with best practices and contribute towards the achievement of the division’s strategic and operational objectives.
  • Provide division management with key P&L data and analysis.
  • Drive the dissemination and collection of input/output data, critical assumption and management reporting requirements, including KPI’s and business unit performance measures.
  • Develop and manage overall business performance reporting, dashboards and other analytics as required.
  • Coordinate development and monitor implementation of division action plans to seize competitive opportunities and/or respond to shortfalls/plan variances.
  • Evaluate business unit pricing and product/service line profitability, including providing pricing approval support for new work orders/contracts.
  • Analyze and evaluate projects and initiatives by performing NPV, DCF, what-if analysis and “after action” reviews.
  • Coordinate with and support financial and operations activities as needed and work with other divisions.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis in support of business and Certara wide initiatives and projects.
  • Undertake operational assessments for different parts of the business as required.
  • Act as divisional control owner to comply with overall Certara processes, including Sarbanes-Oxley related compliance.
  • Provide oversight of divisional project finance coordination team, assessing project profitability and visibility.

Qualifications:

  • Finance Acumen: A minimum of 10 years of experience serving in finance roles of increasing scope and seniority. Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or relevant field required. An MBA or CPA is preferred.
  • Strategic Finance Executive with an Operational Bent: Prior experience defining, implementing, optimizing and continuously improving financial and finance-related processes and systems. See finance as a key lever to impact business actions and strategy; focused on providing insights and building value-add partnerships across the organization.
  • Growth-Orientation: An executive who has led through growth and has driven both organic and inorganic initiatives. Experience playing a leadership role in M&A transactions (due diligence/analysis through integration) highly preferred.
  • Business Partnering: Comfortable navigating across a multi-level organization and working with different stakeholders. Maintains an independent voice as a business partner and appropriately navigates numerous business priorities.
  • Industry Experience: Experience operating in global software and/or services companies, preferably in the Life Sciences industry. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Leadership Experience: A proven manager and motivator of people and teams who has a track record of recruiting and developing high potential people and setting
