Security Manager
Through the Trust Security management team, ensure the service delivered meets agreed SLA/ KPIs and provides a patient centred approach. The post-holder will be expected to assist with the development of other divisional strategies across the Trust in relation to security or represent Estates & Facilities division as a point of expertise in Trust wide operational task force groups or policy documents.
The post-holder will provide professional advice to staff, departments, and the Trust, on best practice in security and support the Trust and staff alike, in seeking and progressing successful prosecutions from criminal activities conducted within the Trust.
The post-holder will be guided by the Head Of Security in interaction with Greater Manchester Police and local Counter-Terrorist Security Advisors, to ensure the Trust receives the latest information and guidance in enforcing a safe and secure environment with protection against criminal and terrorist activity.
The post holder will ensure capital development schemes and refurbishments, receive appropriate and timely advice and support, covering all respective needs from a security perspective. The post-holder will carry out Security Risk Assessments within the framework of the Trusts risk assessment process, to identify strengths and weakness throughout the Trust, that could affect the safety of staff, patients and visitors, the protection of property and assets; and how these impacts on operations, and formulate action plans for improvement, and work with the Risk Management Team to ensure a consistent approach to risk management.
The post-holder will be acquainted with general technological developments in the security services and related technologies, as well as current practices, on matters which may affect or be beneficial to the area of work for which they are responsible, actively keeping abreast of NHS developments and changes within the industry to maximise opportunities and service within the Trust and forge networking links across the NHS.The post-holder will promote a culture where all staff are encouraged to report, and be supported, when they witness or are victims of any act of violence, ensuring action is taken to ensure groups that may face specific targeting for bias-based violence are supported; working in partnership with Equality & Diversity leads, H&S, HR, etc.

The post holder will ensure that associated departmental incidents/ breaches are reported in a simple and concise manner, allowing for investigations to take place in a fair, objective and professional manner, so that in turn allows appropriate sanctions and risk assessing, to allow development of preventative measures and actions.
Where incidents/ breaches are assessed, lessons learnt to be shared accordingly, and publicised appropriately so that a deterrent effect can be created. The post-holder will be expected to deal with complex, sensitive and often contentious issues when leading on security matters.
The post-holder will assist in providing a consistent and robust operational service, analyse trends and risks to inform the development of preventative measures or the revision of policies and procedures, working closely with the Head Of Security and other security managers The post-holder will ensure that all relevant Trust policies and procedures covering security are in place, tested and reviewed accordingly; and that standard operating procedures and protocols are established and maintained, and that respective security contracts have supporting documentation reflecting the Trust standards and procedures.
The post-holder will undertake site visits to each Care Organisation sites to support with guidance and security advice when required. The post-holder will maintain full and complete records on a computer database, of all relevant security & operational documentation, as well as all projects for which the post- holder is personally responsible.Such documents and project records will include strategic, project briefs, etc. The post-holder is responsible for ensuring that CCTV systems are installed and operated according to the ICO code of practice, as well as the retention, viewing and release of CCTV footage.
The post-holder is responsible for researching and understanding developments in security provision and will need to be skilled at disseminating the information to their own and other team members. The post-holder will need to respond to changes in legislation and statutory guidance and disseminate as required.
The post-holder will work collaboratively with partners, both internal and external, across the Greater Manchester area and develop and maintain links with external stakeholders such as, but not restricted to, other NHS Trusts, National Security Forums, Police and service user groups team members.
The post-holder will work closely with Matrons, Ward Managers, Heads of Departments etc. providing guidance where required and requested.. The post-holder will monitor the quality and quantity of the data and information taking the necessary actions to deal with any problems.
The post holder will be required to work to deadlines and prioritise their own work area, balancing other organisational related and professional demands, and ensure that these remain in accordance with those of the department. The post holder will be required to assess the best way to fulfil their responsibilities and achieve their objectives with guidance from their line manager and in the participation of NCA Groups/Committee meetings.
This will require a significant level of autonomy relying on the potholder's knowledge and experience to form judgements.
