Teaching Assistant Complex Needs in Leeds
We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants with a specialism in PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) and complex needs to provide essential support in specialist settings across Leeds. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about helping students with PMLD and complex medical needs thrive and make substantial progress in their education.
We are seeking Teaching Assistants who:- Have experience working with children or young people with a diverse range of SEND, including autism spectrum conditions, moderate to severe learning difficulties, hearing and visual impairments, specific genetic conditions, physical disabilities, communication and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Are dedicated to supporting students' emotional, social, and academic development.
- Exhibit a positive, patient, and flexible approach when working with students with moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, complex medical conditions, physical disabilities, Down's Syndrome, hearing and/or visual impairments, and Autism.
- Can assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons while maintaining a calm and supportive classroom environment.
- Are confident in providing one-to-one or small group support for students with varying needs.

Skills and Qualifications Required:- Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with a Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, grade C or above.
- Additional qualifications or experience in special educational needs (SEN).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of strategies to support children with a wide range of SEND, including autism spectrum conditions, moderate to severe learning difficulties, hearing and visual impairments, specific genetic conditions, physical disabilities, communication and language challenges, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Ability to work effectively with children from diverse backgrounds, showing patience and empathy.
- Able to maintain focus and positivity in a dynamic school environment.
