We are delighted to be seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic clinician from a Child and Adolescent Mental Health background with specialist training in The Incredible Years Parenting Programme.

The GMMH Psychological Therapies Training Centre was established in 2000 to run a Postgraduate Diploma programme in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in partnership with the University of Manchester. We have since expanded our portfolio to include more than 20 programmes/pathways in evidence based psychological therapies training across a broad range of therapeutic modalities, mostly at postgraduate level.

We have been highly successful in attracting funding from NHS England as part of national projects aimed at Improving Access to Psychological Therapies across Adult and Children & Young Peoples’ services, and now employ over 90 staff, most of them also in current clinical practice, and train in excess of 400 students per year.

Main duties of the job

Prospective candidates for the PT course will be experienced clinicians with specialist training in The Incredible Years Parenting Programme and a track record in the delivery of specialist IY groups. They will have experience of supervising and training practitioners in relation to parenting work.

The role also includes the provision of support in specialist Incredible Years teaching for trainees on the CYP- PT Course and contribution to marking of clinical work for the training programme.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Accredited Incredible Years Practitioner
  • Incredible Years Peer Coach Trained
Desirable criteria
  • Accredited Incredible Years Peer Coach
  • Postgraduate qualification in relevant intervention (CYP-PT) or equivalent, with a minimum of three years post qualification experience.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of supervising practitioners in a variety of clinical settings
  • Experience of working with, children, young people, and families with mental health problems
  • Have good level of knowledge and experience of delivering parenting work including that for complex cases
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of delivering training to a variety of audiences

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Sound Knowledge of the incredible years Pre-School Programme
  • Knowledge and understanding of national policy and strategic context of CYP IAPT
  • An understanding of clinical governance and evidence-based practice

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate effectively in a range of modalities and to a wide range of audiences (students of varying levels of knowledge, managers, commissioners etc)
  • High level of skill in IT including good knowledge of working on virtual platforms and good word processing and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to organise own work and act on own initiative
Desirable criteria
  • Familiarity with multimedia equipment relevant to training environment
