Main duties of the job
Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity? We are looking for self motivated and driven individuals to work within the Medicines Safety Team. This is a permanent post and we are looking for a nurse and a pharmacy technician to join the team.
You will work with the medicines safety team on enhancing patient safety. One of the primary goals of the post is to reduce medication errors and improve safety for patients. By working with the team, you will contribute directly to safer healthcare practices.You will develop expertise in medicines safety and gain valuable experience in identifying risks, analysing incidents, and implementing safety measures. You will be able to work on and implement practical improvements from refining procedures to introducing safer systems, making a tangible difference in daily practice.
The role involves training others and staying updated on safety standards, which boosts your professional development and leadership skills. You will tackle real world challenges by investigating errors and proposing solutions, making your work dynamic and impactful.
As a team we work closely with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, fostering a collaborative environment where ideas and feedback are valued.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria- NVQ3, BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent Technician registered with GPhC. Or Registered nurse/practitioner on relevant part of the NMC /HCPC register
- One of the following additional specialist pharmacy qualifications Recognised accuracy checking qualification/accreditation. Medicines management qualification. TAQA assessor or equivalent teaching/training qualification CIPS level 4 Foundation management or equivalent demonstrable experience of day-to-day operational management of staff and workload. Or Post registration qualification within area of speciality completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies
- Extensive post registration experience with consolidated learning
- Experience of staff management/operational workload and workforce supervision
- Recruitment and selection experience
- Competent in the accurate supply or administration of medicines
- Evidence of commitment to relevant ongoing CPD and personal and professional development
- Dealing with and resolving customers/patients’ complaints
- Experience of leading a team
- Additional specialist pharmacy qualifications relevant to post e.g.. TAQA assessor or equivalent teaching/training qualification CIPS level 4 Foundation management or equivalent demonstrable experience of day-to-day operational management of staff and workload. Quality/Service improvement Qualification
- Awareness of current professional regulations/issues
- Experience of CMM/Metavision or similar computer stock control system/EPMA system
- Experience of service development and or design and implementation of audit
- Experience relevant to role applied for e.g.: Logistics, , Clinical Trials or research experience, Aseptic services experience, change management
- Experience of mentoring/coaching/motivating others
- Experience of ESR and E rostering systems
