An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 8a Data and Analytics Senior Manager to join our team, to lead the Regional RDN (RRDN) Data and Analytics team, which forms part of the national RDN Data and Analytics unit, who collectively work to deliver national projects alongside regional priorities and innovation.

The Data and Analytics Senior Manager will adopt/ share a best practice approach to their work and support the RDN in achieving its objectives, and ensuring it delivers the best reporting and digital solutions which facilitate and underpin all services and functions of the RDN, as well as regional implementation of national initiatives.

The postholder will be required to work with a wide range of West Midlands RRDN internal and external stakeholders, other RRDN Data and Analytics Senior Managers, RDN Coordinating Centre (RDNCC) peers, as well as senior external stakeholders, to deliver complex, high priority, system wide projects.

The Data and Analytics Senior Manager will be responsible for the development and realisation of NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN) strategic programmes regarding Data and Analytics, underpinned by operational oversight of activities within this function.

This role leads the Regional RDN (RRDN) Data and Analytics team, part of the national RDN Data and Analytics unit, who collectively work to deliver national projects alongside regional priorities and innovation.

This role will be responsible for the prioritisation, planning and delivery of reporting and digital solutions which facilitate all services and functions of the RDN, as well as regional implementation of national initiatives. Given the Data and Analytics function enables all RDN functions and services, the postholder will be required to work with a wide range of RRDN internal and external stakeholders to understand their requirements and implement solutions.

In their position, the post holder will work with RRDN and RDN Coordinating Centre (RDNCC) peers, as well as senior external stakeholders, to deliver complex, high priority, system wide projects.

The postholder will manage the RRDN Data and Analytics function, including line management of the Data and Analytics Lead. The postholder will ensure review processes take place for all staff with the defined function via appropriate line management arrangements and that skills and capabilities exist to meet current and future business needs.

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP
  • Be responsible for contributing to a national, multi-year Data and Analytics strategy and managing its implementation across the RRDN, ensuring that the plan to implement the strategy within the region aligns to and complements the national strategy and is approved by the RRDN leadership team
  • Work with the RRDN Strategic Development Director and national Data and Analytics forum to develop strategies, knowledge and information needed to support senior managers in making informed strategic decisions
  • Be able to take a long-term view of the Data and Analytics needs of the Network
  • Be responsible for the development and provision of reporting and digital solutions across the RRDN, working collaboratively with RRDN research Delivery Organisations and RDN services and functions to understand their requirements
  • Lead on Data and Analytics projects across the RRDN geography
  • Lead on and/or provide Data and Analytics expertise for national projects, including representing the RRDN at the national Data and Analytics forum. Within this capacity the postholder will be responsible for leading on projects with a national remit
  • Contribute to national initiatives underpinning the continued development of the RDN, including NIHR Data and Technology (DDaT) initiatives and providing information to support the NIHR Technical Design Authority
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT & PROJECT/PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the RRDN Data and Analytics Function
  • Manage the Data and Analytics team, including line management of the band 7 Data and Analytics Lead. Lead the development of organisational capability through good people management, training and development, mentoring and coaching
  • Manage the contributions of stakeholders as part of a project management structure for specific projects, as required
  • Lead on complex Data and Analytics projects across the RRDN geography, that may involve internal and external subject matter experts
  • Through the national Data and Analytics forum, represent the RRDN in programmes with a national remit
  • Through the national Data and Analytics forum, lead on high profile national projects with tight deadlines, involving a range of internal and external stakeholders
BUSINESS PLANNING
  • As a member of the national Data and Analytics forum, work with peers across the RDN to develop, implement and maintain an agile, prioritised work plan for the Data and Analytics function, realising the vision of shared leadership and accountability
  • Lead on all Data and Analytics aspects of RRDN business planning and management
  • Provide expert input into the development of RRDN business planning and management for other services and functions where there are dependencies on Data and Analytics
  • Seek advice from colleagues when knowledge required falls outside of own boundaries
INFORMATION & ADMINISTRATION
  • Lead on the analysis and reporting of RDN key information to support the operational management and strategic development of the RDN
  • Lead on the RRDN-wide optimisation of the LPMS (Local Portfolio Management System), including leading on procurement/contract management, project planning and training provision, in liaison with the system supplier and local nominated senior IT, R&D and IG leads
  • Ensure that the LPMS is being utilised effectively for all RRDN research Delivery Organisations within the region (including primary care and wider community settings) and assess ongoing organisational requirements of the system, working with stakeholders, RRDN and RDNCC peers
and the system provider(s) to define, plan and implement change
  • Continuously improve outputs and standards for the production and presentation ofo RRDN information, routinely for the RRDN Board, Directors and managers, including information on trends, variances and data anomalies
  • Advise the RRDN management team on the interpretation of data and of reports, o providing explanation and clarification as required
  • Work with Study Support Service colleagues, devise, implement and manage procedures to ensure that RRDN key information is collected reliably and efficiently, and to ensure that information or datasets are full, accurate and up-to-date. This will include the investigation, analysis and resolution of data queries and problems
  • Generally ensure that RRDN information is managed and processed to the highest operational standards, and standards of Information Governance and Data Protection, and in compliance with the policies of the RRDN research Delivery Organisations
