“As a result of ongoing project work, we are looking for an experienced field engineer for a 6 month Fixed Term Contract, also suitable as a secondment. The engineer will be part of the Northamptonshire Projects team, and will be dedicated to working with one of our Projects to assist their Wireless Access Point Refresh Project.This post will be mostly field based in Northamptonshire and some office work, the role will suit someone who is looking to make their next career step and own a piece of work from start to finish working closely alongside the project manager”.
You will also be expected to assist / support other projects when capacity allows.
This role is based at Haylock House, Kettering and in the field across Northamptonshire .
The individual must provide professional and friendly service while taking ownership of the WAP upgrade programme, working Closely with the project support office to arrange site visits to carry out surveys and upgrades and liaising with Estates teams and 3rd Party Cabling contractor keeping the project team updated on a weekly basis and as required.
This post holder needs a methodical and attention to detail approach to ensure successful delivery.
Adapting to onsite changes across Northamptonshire, while taking a flexible approach to meet client expectations.
Main duties of the job
Band 6 Senior IT Field Engineer to work within the Projects/Programmes Management and Delivery (PPMD) team as a technical subject matter expert in their own field and will be required to demonstrate an innovative approach to service delivery in a rapidly changing environment.
The primary focus will be working alongside other technical and project staff and assisting with technical tasks as part of project delivery.The role requires a good understanding of most aspects of networking and to be able to think and problem solve efficiently should issues arise.
The role will need to be flexible and adapt to new working patterns in line with the changing NHS and customer requirements and may require some out of hours work, including weekends.
There may also be a requirement to manage and guide Band 5 IT Field Engineers as required.

Education / Training / Qualifications
Essential criteria- Educated to degree level in relevant IT subject or equivalent plus significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
- An advanced recognised Industry standard qualification in IT. i.e. Microsoft or Cisco certification.
- Working knowledge of PRINCE2 project management methodology.
- MCSE; CNE; CCNA qualifications.
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience providing senior level complex technical support through a team of service engineers
