Job summary

Facilities Assistant- DSCIS Training Support.
The DSCIS mission is to train and educate information and communications engineers, technicians, and operators in order to meet the requirements of Defence and needs of trainees now and into the future.

This position is a site-based role and is advertised at 37 hours per week, starting 0730am Monday to Friday. Requests to work flexibly will be considered depending on business needs.

Job description

The post holder will work as a member of a mixed military and civilian Training Support Department. The principal function of the AO Facilities Assistant post is to provide support to the Facilities Team and as required by the Facilities Manager and SO1 Training Support.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, happy working as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Person specification

The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare classrooms and meeting facilities.
  • Ensure AV equipment is fit for purpose in classrooms, presentation suites and conference rooms including 1st line trouble shooting.
  • Provision of SHEF standards.
  • Provide assistance and cover for the Facilities PMH Assistant in relation to meeting the issued DSCIS Blandford training programme, signing out of classroom keys, checks and inspections.
  • Ensure all stationery needs of Training Support are fulfilled in accordance with local working practices.
  • Provide support for Training Support office equipment.
  • Provide general admin support, focal point for OP Wideawake and OP Rapid Call.
  • Maintenance of accurate fire register, PAT register for management purposes.
  • Support to Stores Accounting for Ain U returns and updating of MJDI, fulfil stores demands and requests.
  • Support to the Building Manager for Training Estate Management.
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing mail, liaise with Post Room as required such as in respect of recorded deliveries.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments.
