The team will focus on people with eating disorders who meet the threshold for inpatient care. In some cases, admission will be prevented and in others, people will be stepped down to this model following a short inpatient admission. The AED Step Care maximizes the use of new technology, provides care close to home, reduces admission, length of stay, waiting times and provides earlier discharge from inpatient care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide specialist expertise within the HOPE Provider Collaborative ‘Step Care’ eating disorders service model and highly specialist psychological assessment and treatment to patients referred to the service.

Integrated step care consists of three phases:

  • To be responsible for implementing a model of integrated stepped care based upon CBT-E and other psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining several provisional hypotheses.
  • To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals to contribute directly to the patients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
